Farmers interested in mentoring can apply for Va. Farm Mentor Network

BLACKSBURG—Farmers who are interested in transitioning out of farming and mentoring a young farmer can take the first step in the process by filling out a Mentee Application for the Virginia Farm Mentor Network.

The Virginia Farm Mentor Network is part of the Virginia Beginning Farmer & Rancher Coalition Project, created in late 2010 when the U.S. Department of Agriculture awarded Virginia Tech a grant to get the program started.

Participation in the network is an informal educational opportunity that allows a new farmer to learn from someone who has been working successfully in agriculture for several years.

Participants will be able to exchange knowledge, skills and ideas. For more information or an application, visit vabeginningfarmer.aee.vt.edu/mentoring/
