Visit six Virginia farms in just one hour—during virtual tour

DOSWELL—Virginia Farm Bureau Federation will offer a glimpse into the lives of six farm families Oct. 3 during the Real Virginia Virtual Farm Tour.

The presentation will be hosted live from 7 to 8 p.m. at the State Fair of Virginia’s Meadow Pavilion and will be broadcast on Farm Bureau’s website at It will include tours of a Rockbridge County beef cattle farm, a Hanover County dairy, an Accomack County vegetable farm, a Shenandoah County poultry operation, a Spotsylvania County produce farm and a Buckingham County pork operation.

“We believe that getting accurate information about farming operations will help the average Virginian understand and appreciate the importance of this industry in their daily lives,” explained Greg Hicks, VFBF vice president of communications. “We realize that not everyone has access to a farm or has time to personally visit one. That’s why we’ve sent our staff out to a variety of Virginia farms to report the farmers’ stories to the public.”

Viewers can submit questions to, and a panel of farmers and agricultural experts will be on hand to provide answers. The public also can follow the event on Twitter at #RealVA.

“We think it’s important to engage Virginia families in a conversation about agriculture,” Hicks said. “This event is one way to do that.”
